At Dataflex, every employee receives one volunteering day each year to support a cause they care about. While this initiative is a great way to give back, it can sometimes be challenging to find the right organization or opportunity. And often, the connection is brief, making it harder to create a lasting impact.
That’s why we set out to find a long-term partner. We looked for an organization we could build a meaningful relationship with over time. After reaching out to several (local) contacts, Krimpen Duurzaam, an initiative under Gemeente Krimpen aan den IJssel, introduced us to Stichting Kracht Door Delen (SKDD).
It turns out SKDD is located just around the corner from us! Founded in 2021 by Lara Corda, the organization collects donated goods, sorts them, and distributes them to families in need by appointment. Over time, they’ve gained recognition from the municipality and expanded their reach, gathering donations from across the region.
On friday the 8th of August, we hosted a launch party with SKDD to meet the team and explore how we can support their mission. Lara and their intern Suzie gave us a tour of the site, shared their story, and sparked conversations about how we could contribute. Ideas were already bubbling up during the visit!
Next, we’ll be proposing an action plan and checking in regularly to see how we can assist with more urgent needs as they arise. Through this collaboration, we hope to encourage more employees to use their volunteering day and to see, over time, the impact we’ve made together.
